Titus 2:2-5 "A Titus 2 Ministry"

As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching. Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience.

Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that honors God. They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good.

These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.

"Eating At Eve"

God Bless You Today!!

It was wonderful to fellowship with you all. I am so excited that together we can continue to invest in our spiritual lives. I know that God has a call for each one of us and I pray that he will reveal it to us in his time!

So... Our take away was to "Eat at EVE". What questions do you have about EVE? Where in your life do you feel you possess some of her characteristics?

Just wanted to start it off...

  1. I am going over the profile and scriptures that relate to Eve bit by bit. Something hat stuck out to me was looking at how Eve acted impulsively when she was approached in the Garden by Satan. Eve did not include God in her decision making.

This struck me bc I was instantly convicted on the areas in my life where I do not seek God in my decision making. The effects of Eve's decision not only affected her, but Adam, her children, and all of her descents. WOW! One decision changed it all. How close we need to be to the vine in order to be the help meet, the friend, the mother, the daughters, and all God has called us to be. Ignoring His voice or not patiently waiting to hear HIM in His timing can drastically change your life and so many others. As much as we think, we are not interdependent we very much are.

I am reflecting on the decisions I have made where God has been absent. The domino effect of disobedience can absorb the qualities of an epidemic. This highlights why it is so important to develop our relationship with the Lord, kill of flesh daily, and spend time in the Word so that we can teach, rebuke, correct, and train ourselves for righteousness.

Imagine how our story would be different if Eve would have chosen to ask God first before taking a bite.

  2. The question I have always wondered about in regards to Eve is why Satan targeted her, some people will say because she was the weaker sex but what does that mean? How would Satan know she was the weaker sex or how would he know what to ask, I liken this to the story of Job, God allowed Job to be tested(tempted) did God allow the same thing to happen with Adam and Eve. Just something I have always wondered.

  3. I was wondering the same thing. Why was Eve tempted and not Adam. I looked at it as Satan trying to kill, steal, and destroy the purpose for why God sent her as Adam's help meet. Satan knowing the Eve was going to be a good thing for Adam and he did not like that.

  4. I also wondered why Eve was targeted. It was said that everything was created for good, then I guess I am struggling with how the notion of temptation even got there. Where did the serpent come from? To go further, once Eve ate from the tree and offered it to Adam why didn't Adam take a stand?

Another area that stuck out to me was when GOD gave Eve her punishment. He said not only will women experience pain at childbirth, but she will desire her husband and he shall rule over you. Genesis 3:16 I think this is the first time that I recognized this part of the scripture. What did God really mean by that?

  5. The word desire can possibly mean sin over. Meaning Eve has to fight her desire to master over her husband. The curse on Eve makes it harder for her to submit to her husband. Therefore, men have to fight for their headship in their homes. This goes into Ephesians 5:22 the scripture relating wives submitting to their husbands as to the Lord. We have to recall our role as help meets. The vision and agenda was given to Adam not Eve. And when women try to take over their husband's "agenda", it's not within the will of God.

  6. I see the point Divine Daughter is making about the wife "sinning" over her husband as in trying to rule over him, because the submit issue came up again in the bible it was something of importance and God knew that it would be hard for Eve to accomplish it or anyone else for that matter.

This is off the subject but just thought I'd share, did anyone else receive this?

  7. That definetely makes sense, I was also reading out of Nelson's Bible commentary and he interpreted that the personification of sin has a desire against, so in verse 16 the women will have a desire against her husband and his leadership. But in the same verse God made a promise that her husband shall rule over her. Meaning that we must submit to out husband as to God, in order to stay in God's will. I must say that this was the first time that this verse ever stood out to me.

  8. But it all makes sense now. It wasn't enough for Eve to resist sin or temptation for her love of Adam alone. The cornerstone of their relationship functioning and each gender able to perform in the gender roles according God's rules is their love of Christ.

Eating at Eve has helped me really work out some issues. I now understand the source for my desires in relationships w/men. Oh, Eve!
